The Stihl BG-55 air blower, designed for the occasional user, weighs 9 lbs and features a pump primer that makes it a lot easier to begin. Made and promoted from the Stihl, Inc. of Virginia Beach, VA, the BG-55 comes with an adjustable harness for simple carrying, an anti-vibration system that reduces user fatigue and a particular pad to alleviate the strain on your back. Its high impact polymer housing resists corrosion.
Just one cylinder. Its piston has 1.34-inch bore and a 1.18-inch stroke, displacing 1.66 cubic inches. It provides 9 horsepower. The tank holds 13 1/2 ounces of fuel.
The breaker-less electronic magneto system of this BG-55 uses resistor-type spark plugs (either NGK BPMR 7 A or Bosch WSR 6 F spark plugs). The right gap of the spark plug electrodes is 0.02 inch.
The BG-55 provides 140 miles-per-hour velocity of air flow during its nozzle. The most air stream in its blower mode is 430 cubic feet per minute. When put in the vacuum mode, the most air flow is 350 cubic feet per minute.
The blower provides 69 decibels of sound. Each increase of 10 decibels, for example from 50 to 60, is 10 times louder. The World Health Organization recommends general daytime outdoor noise levels of 55 decibels or less. A decibel rating of 65 is 100 times too loud to permit healthful sleep during daylight hours.
