The way to Install an IKEA FOTO Pendant Lamp

Installing a fresh light can dramatically alter the appearance and feel of a space. IKEA’S Foto design of pendant lamps are designed to hang from electrical boxes mounted in your own ceiling. Although installing the Foto lamp is a rather straightforward procedure, all electrical work necessitates caution and know-how. If you’re not certain about any step in the procedure, consult a certified electrician.

Turn off the power in your apartment or home at the primary circuit board.

Verify your wires are ready to be connected. See the Tips section for advice on how best to prepare electrical wires for connecting a light.

Unscrew the pendant rod halfway from the bolt on the Foto lights base. The pendant rod is the long piece where the light hangs. The lamp base is the cup-shaped slice where the electrical wires protrude.

Screw the hooked metal piece which came with the lamp to the electrical box on your ceiling. There may be a similar metal piece without a hook connected to the box with two screws. If so, unscrew this piece and replace it with the new hooked piece which came with the Foto pendant lamp. Ensure that the hook part of this metal piece goes downward toward the ground.

Hang the metal clip over the lamp base over the hook on the metal piece you attached in Step 4.

Connect the black cable from the electrical box to the black cable on the lamp. Slide the ends together clockwise with a pair of needle-nose pliers and then twist on one of those supplied capped cable straps that came with the lamp. Slide the caps clockwise as tightly as possible to ensure a firm connection between the two wires, then wrap the hoist in electrical tape for extra protection.

Combine the white wires utilizing the same technique as you did with the black wires.

Combine the three ground wires. The Foto design of pendant lamp has two ground wires, each of which must be on the ground cable extending from the electrical box in your ceiling. Use the same technique to link the three ground wires as you did when connecting the white and black wires. Connect all three ground wires in precisely the same cap.

Tuck the associated wires up within the electrical box, keeping the white and black wires as much as possible from one another.

Push the lamp base up flush against the electrical box and then screw in the pendant rod.

Turn on your electrical breaker and analyze the lamp.
