How to Lock the Rear End Differential On My Riding Mower

After the region that you mow regularly includes slopes, slopes or muddy terrain, then it is almost essential that you have a riding mower that includes a rear differential you could lock in to place to give you additional rear-wheel traction. Not only does the locked differential ensure that both back wheels turn together in unison, it makes operating the riding mower safer when you leave dry or level ground. Locking the differential is usually a one-step procedure that you execute when the mower is discontinued.

Consult your owner’s manual for the positioning of the switch, pedal or button that controls the locking spine. Differential lock buttons or switches are usually located on the ground of the mower or on the dash, while pedals, clearly, are located just on the ground.

Start the riding mower as usual. Proceed to mow. When you run into a hilly, sloped or muddy place, stop the machine and then engage the required lock by pressing the right button or pedal. When you proceed forward, the rear differential will lock in to place.

Stop the mower’s forward movement to unlock the rear differential. Catch the rear differential switch or button into the “Off” position. On some versions of riding mowers, simply depress the foot pedal that controls the differential lock with your foot to disengage it.
