How to Replace an Oven Door to a Frigidaire Classic Series

A secure and usable door is essential for the proper operation of an oven. Doors on Frigidaire Classic series heaters are mounted on hinges which extend out in the body of the unit. Replacing the doors is just a two-stage procedure: first you have to unfasten some mounting screws and slide the current door the oven off, after which you can install the door.

Unplug the oven or even switch off the circuit breaker to which it’s linked.

Open the oven door until it’s lying completely horizontally.

Remove the 2 screws located on the oven door lining close to the hinges. There is one screw per hinge.

Insert these same two screws to the empty holes on the insides of the hinge arms, one screw per hinge.

Shut the oven door until it stops. It will stop when it is sitting in about a 45-degree angle. Do not try to force it all the way closed.

Take firm hold of the doorway with one hand on each side and gently slide up the door and off the hinges. Ask a friend for help should you question your ability to maintain the entire weight of the doorway.

Slip the new door onto the hinges and gently lower the doorway so that the hinges extend fully to the channels on the doorway.

Open the doorway so that it’s lying completely horizontally.

Remove the screws that you inserted to the hinge arms in Step 4 and add them into the door lining of the new door. Tighten them firmly.
