The way to take out the Gasoline Tank to a John Deere L118 Lawn Tractor

Like any gas-powered lawn tool with a plastic fuel tank, on occasion the tank on a John Deere’s L118 riding mower must be removed for repair, replacement or cleaning. The tank is near the surface of the primary compartment, therefore reaching it’s fairly straightforward. When it’s removed, you can find a clear look in any way sides of the tank to see if cracks or leaks warrant replacement.

Open the main engine cap by tilting it forward. Find the battery and then loosen the terminals using pliers. Slide the wires from the terminals to prevent accidental starting.

Loosen the fuel cap, which can be visible in the front part of the engine compartment. Insert the siphon into the tank and feed it in the cylinder to the gas can. Pump each the fuel from the tank to prevent spillage. If the fuel is older and unusable, dispose of it according to local regulations.

Use a pair of pliers to pull the fuel lines in the outside of the tank. The mower has two lines, one slightly larger than the other.

Unscrew the tank from its foundation using a 3/8-inch ratchet. Slide the tank from the foundation.
