Typography Makes Itself at Home

There is nothing more attractive to me than a true obsolete billboard or rusted traffic sign. What makes my heart beating at auctions? A giant aluminum set of letters or a neon”Eat” sign. What do I locate myself bookmarking over and over again? Typography.

I love letters and numbers and especially adore them when they’re authentically old. I do wonder if the trend of placing typography on everything from glasses to artwork prints to pillows to stairs will continue. Can collectors lose the joy of finding a fantastic piece of classic typography? I doubt it. Can typography prints fill Target clearance aisles in the not too distant future? Perhaps.

Join me as we take a look at some of the best typography out in blog land and outside.
You pick. Is it here to stay or gone tomorrow?

Would you like a grand typographical statement? Go bold with a room-appropriate title or phrase.

A basic monogram is the perfect accent for an open area. Personalize your mattress using a big letter or accessorize a family room with your initials. Check out this take on the trend from The Real Housewives of Bucks County.

Perhaps the most classic method of incorporating typography into your area is with books. Stacked books, bookshelves of books, books without covers, book pages… the list just goes on and on. Books are versatile, cheap and always beautiful.

Another means to seamlessly integrate authentic typography into your area will be to frame a handwritten letter, poem or list. It will not get much more personal than the written word out of your hand. This example from Regular Type A is simply the ideal balance of artistic and personal, do not you believe?
